I have been using AI for around 6 months or so, not specifically as a tool, more as a form of research. AI is controversial, particularly for visual artists and makers as it is extremely hard to protect an artists work once it is published on the world wide web and there have been many debates on intellectual property, copyright, ownership and theft. It is not my intention to rely on or utilise AI as a key source of my work, however I can see how it can be a tool to use. I have started by using many different key words to generate images and this in itself is a skill that needs developing and is not without issues. I used keywords based on my practice and body of work, I also tried inputting images of work I had already made to see what alterations AI would make to them.
This research is in its early days and am not sure where it will go, but am sharing the images I created below using the DaVinci AI app designed for artists. I does feel like an app geared more towards digital artists than artists working with physical materials, but am sure this will evolve and change as the technology develops and becomes more sophisticated, a thought which is both scary and interesting
